Happy Birthday Golden Gate Bridge!

This weekend marked the 75th birthday of the Golden Gate Bridge.  This was an especially sentimental event for me because my grandfather walked the bridge on opening day, May 27th, 1937.  My grandfather was 9 at the time and wore his cowboy costume when he walked with his father.  Here is a copy of the front page news in 1937:

There was music all day as well as vintage cars, a firework show and a historical tent that answered all of our most burning questions about the bridge

Cars from the 1950s

Cars from the 1940s

Cars from the 1930s.

Even one of the original cars that drove across the bridge in 1937 was there for the event!

Happy 75th Golden Gate Bridge, you look amazing!
