Bringing Up Baby

With the weather in SF suddenly damp and cold again after a few days of unexpected heat, all I feel like doing is staying inside and drinking red wine and watching movies.  This afternoon I think I will watch one of my favorite Katharine Hepburn movies.

Bringing up Baby (1938) stars Hepburn as a quirky heiress and Cary Grant as a paleontologist, who together end up in a series of predicaments as they care for a pet leopard named Baby.  Directed by Howard Hawks, the movie was initially somewhat of a box office flop.  However, over time it gained in popularity and is now considered one of the greatest American screwball comedies.  It was actually given 14th place in AFT’s 100 years…100 Laughs.  Curious what got number 1?  I mentioned it in an earlier post (hint, hint!).
